Die FDP-Fraktion im Deutschen Bundestag. Sitzungsprotokolle 1969–1983 / The FDP Parliamentary Party in the German Bundestag. Minutes of the Proceedings 1969–1983

The formation of the social-liberal coalition after the 1969 federal elections marked a turning point in the history of the FDP. For the first time since the Second World War, there was an alliance at federal level between the liberal middle classes and the social democratic labour movement. The coalition was driven by the desire to reorganise German policy and Ostpolitik and the demand for socio-political reforms.

The minutes of the meetings published here not only trace the political work of the parliamentary arm of the FDP in the Bundestag, but also highlight the lines of tension and conflict that ran through the parliamentary group. The documents also provide an insight into the by no means conflict-free relationship between the two coalition partners, who towards the end were no longer able to find a common denominator, particularly in terms of security and economic policy.
