Jure Gašparič’s study is the German version of an award-winning book on the national parliament of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, which was published in Slovenian in 2015. It also sheds light on the crisis symptoms of European parliamentarianism in the interwar period.

The author paints a colourful portrait of a parliament working under the most difficult conditions, which was unable to shape the development of the new state due to the dominant position of the head of state and under the influence of social conflicts, some of which were carried out violently. Gašparič vividly tells a story of political scandals, corruption and violence that shook the public image of parliamentarianism far beyond the borders of Yugoslavia.
